What is a Super Saiyan? Well, first off it can only be accomplished by the saiyan race. I'd really like to see Picollo in SSJ Form, heh. Well, it happens when a saiyan reaches a new level of power, so strong, the current form cannot maintain it. The hair turns a golden yellow and the eyes turn teal. The muscles usually get slightly bigger, but not enough to slow them down. The 1st saiyan to reach SSJ was Kakarotto (Goku). It was during the "Frieza Saga". After he reached super saiyan he resumed his ongoing fight with Frieza. Frieza ended up being chopped up and goku just barely made it off the exploding planet.

The next person to reach super saiyan was Vegeta. Vegeta had a much more thrilling way of showing it off, and he seemed to be much more powerful then goku in his SSJ Form. Goku was being killed by andriod 19 (the weakest of them all). Then Vegeta came to the scene. He demolished the andriod with

his Big Bang Attack. Vegeta was defenently the strongest one on the planet at the time.

Trunks came from the future and was a super saiyan before Vegeta, but Vegeta was the 2nd to become ssj in the main timeline.

Next was Gohan. He reached super saiyan in the place where you can train for a year in one day. After he claimed that level he was almost as strong as his father.

Then something happened during the Cell games, Gohan had surpassed the ssj...
