Dragonball Z has a very diverse and interesting atmosphere next to Dragonball. DBZ has a similar plot to DB. Son Goku is again the main character, but a few more characters are introduced.

There are 4 major and extreme villians in the DBZ series. The first villian we see is Vegeta. Vegeta is another Saiyan besides Goku, but he is the Prince of their home planet that was destroyed. He comes to Earth to seek out the Dragonballs with his lackie, Nappa. The second villain introduced was Freeza. Freeza is a planet real-estate agent. He (yes, it is a he) is probably the strongest person in the universe up until Goku turns SSJ for the first time. The third villian introduced is Cell. Cell is created by Dr. Gero, the evil genious behind the Red Ribbon Army. And the last villian introduced is Majin Buu.

What was so good about DBZ was the unexpected turns and twists in the plot. Unexpected relationship arose and mutual bonds were clearly present. The greatness of DBZ was the total suprise that every episode had to offer and that's what made the show ever lasting the hearts of fans all around the world.

Akira Toriyama wanted to end DBZ so that more ideas could be produced to continue on the greatness of Dragonball. He never expected that the show would be supported for so many years after the conclusion of the series. Dragonball will always be the best.
